Chelsea v Real Madrid European Cup Winners Cup Final 1971

The final took place on 19th May 1971 in Athens which was filled to capacity by travelling fans of both clubs. Chelsea went ahead with a Peter Osgood left foot volley, but Real, demonstrating their exceptional ball skills equalised in the last minute. there was n further goals scored in extra time so the game went to a replay.

The Replay was played two days later Chelsea winning 2-1 with goals from Peter Osgood and John Dempsey and becoming the third London Club to win the trophy.
